When you compare coverage for dogs and cats or send a plan request, Pet Insurance Compare explains how your information is handled.

We operate a comparison website for US pet insurance, but we are not an insurer, agent, or broker. To see plans or prices, you never need to send a request. We do not sell coverage, quote it, or bind it.

A plan request you send goes to one insurance agency selected for your pet. Our website doesn't set any cookies or run third-party tracking scripts.

What we gather

No personal details are needed from you to look through our plans and prices. If you send a plan request, we ask for:

  • The species, age, and breed of your pet
  • The ZIP code you provide
  • The name you provide
  • Either your email or your phone

We record the web address your request came from and the displayed plan finder version, along with your request.

Our web host keeps standard server logs that include your IP (your device's internet address), browser type, requested pages, and referring page.

Adults are this site's intended users. We don't knowingly gather information from children younger than 13.

How we make use of it

We use your plan request to connect you with one insurance agency picked for your pet. Submitting a request means you agree that this agency may contact you by phone, text, or email about pet insurance plans. The agency may use the number and address you provided, including with automated dialing technology, but agreeing isn't required to buy anything.

Our own measurement counts and server logs help protect security, correct errors, and show how visitors use the site.

The plan finder places insurers with a published price for the species, age, and breed of your pet first, with the lowest price listed first. Insurers with no published price come next, and no price appears for them.

Who we share information with

The only insurance agency we send your plan request to is the one picked for your pet. Personal information isn't sold for money by us. If you ask to hear from an agency, sending your request to that agency is a disclosure you direct. Some state privacy laws may treat that disclosure as sharing.

An insurance agency may pay us after receiving a plan request. However, no insurer can pay to alter plan terms, rankings, or our content.

A web host and service providers help us run the website. When the law requires it, we share data with authorities. We don't control the outside sites reached through links to insurers, regulators, and studies.

Tracking and cookies

Our website doesn't set any cookies. Using the plan finder makes your browser store the answers in local storage on your device. The answers remain ready for your next visit, and clearing site data from your browser removes them.

Our site's first-party code counts page views, clicks that lead outside, use of the plan finder, and the times when requests begin or go out. We use no third-party analytics, advertising, or social scripts.

The privacy rights you have

Personal information rights belong to residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, plus other states with privacy laws. You can make a request to:

  • Learn what personal information we hold.
  • Have your personal information corrected or deleted
  • Opt out of the sale of your personal information or its sharing.

When your browser provides a Global Privacy Control signal, we also treat it as an opt-out request for sale or sharing.

How long we keep it

We keep plan requests only as long as needed to pass them on and handle questions about them. Standard server logs are kept for a limited time for security and to fix errors.

Reported terms are checked against the insurer's own documents, and we correct any errors found. Email is the only way to contact us because there's no phone line.
