Before you review plan details, here's what American pet owners should know: in the United States, ManyPets stopped selling new policies. If the policy you hold for your dog or cat is active, your coverage stays in place, and a partner insurer handles the renewal.

Once you cover the first part of the invoice yourself, plans pay back 70% to 90% of vet bills that are covered. Accident and illness coverage begins 15 days after enrollment, based on waiting period rules the company sets. Policies without a yearly payout cap are something we rarely see, though this plan carries no yearly limit on payouts.

ManyPets pet insurance plans and cost

For dogs and cats, coverage rests on an accident and illness plan, and an optional wellness add-on is available for routine care. Cat coverage follows the same basic structure as ManyPets dog insurance, and neither one puts a yearly cap on payouts.

Before your insurance plan begins paying, you cover a fixed dollar amount of vet bills; that amount is your deductible. Public guides from the company list neither specific deductible amounts nor sample monthly prices by breed or city.

After your visit, the company pays you back part of each covered vet bill, and reimbursement is that percentage. For covered care, you pick a reimbursement option of 70%, 80%, or 90%. If your household insures more than one pet, you can also receive a multi-pet discount worth up to 15% off.

Coverage and exclusions from ManyPets

The policy centers on unexpected injuries and sicknesses, along with a few notable benefits:

Certain medical costs are also left out of every policy. If your pet showed signs of an illness or injury before your coverage started, that counts as a pre-existing condition. These items aren't paid for under the standard policy exclusions:

  • Conditions your pet already had before your policy became active.
  • Illnesses or injuries that start before your initial waiting period has ended.
  • Under the base insurance plan, routine and preventative vet visits.

Waiting periods and age limits for ManyPets

Right after you enroll, your coverage isn't active yet for a number of days. That stretch of time is the waiting period. The ManyPets waiting period rules set a 15-day wait for accident coverage and a separate 15-day wait for illness coverage. Medical issues that show up during those 15 days count as pre-existing conditions and remain excluded.

A policy could start at 8 weeks of age for young puppies and kittens. While it sold new US plans, the company enrolled pets until they reached age 14. Coverage continues as your pet ages (provided you enrolled them before they turned 14).

Claims and reimbursement at ManyPets

Treatment for your dog or cat means paying the vet clinic directly, then submitting claims online. Once a claim is approved, the payout you receive matches the reimbursement percentage listed on your policy. The public guides from the company leave out both the number of days claim processing takes and how payouts are sent.

Who ManyPets works for

US policyholders today keep strong medical protection for the length of their policy term when their existing plans renew through a partner insurer. This plan suits owners who want vet exam fees covered, plus acupuncture, chiropractic care, and physical rehab that a vet gives. No yearly payout cap also helps when a pet needs costly emergency care.

Because new US sales have ended, pet parents in the United States who want a brand-new policy will need to look elsewhere. If you are a current member without the wellness add-on, you also handle routine and preventative care costs yourself, out of pocket. Owners are also left without coverage for chronic problems their pets developed before the waiting period ended.

Common questions

Is ManyPets pet insurance worth it, or not?

Existing members get strong benefits from the policy, such as vet exam fees covered and unlimited yearly payouts. Check your renewal paperwork to see whether the new terms still work with your budget, since active US policies transfer at renewal.

Does ManyPets pet insurance include pre-existing conditions in what it covers?

Standard pre-existing conditions stay excluded, though curable pre-existing conditions can qualify once you reach 18 months with no symptoms, treatment, and diagnosis. This exception never applies to hip dysplasia or cruciate ligament conditions, and those stay excluded permanently.

How can you get a ManyPets pet insurance quote?

You can't get a new quote in the United States because ManyPets stopped selling new US policies. If you already hold an active policy, you don't need a new quote since your coverage transitions automatically at renewal.
